Hitherto, the students used to cross the road to reach one campus from the other and the traffic used to be held up. To tide over this traffic problem and to ensure safety of the students, the management came up with the idea of constructing a bridge at its own cost. The city police diverted traffic for two days, Saturday and Sunday, to enable the company mount the 65-tonne bridge. The foot overbridge with 40-m span was mounted on Sunday morning. The bridge has seven m width with five m walkway. Traffic on Avanashi Road has resumed.Meanwhile, workers from Larsen and Toubro were in the process of doing a granite floor on the bridge for the walking area. It will be done without disturbing traffic since corrugated metal sheets had already been laid on the walking area, sources said.
