Storm water drains were meant for facilitating flow of rain water from the roads. But, even in areas where underground drainage canals had been provided, toilet lines of residential and commercial buildings had been connected to the storm water drains. When toilet waste was let into the open drains, it caused health hazards. Therefore, those who had not obtained underground drainage connections so far in areas having the facility should apply for it before September 30.The Corporation would disconnect drinking water lines of buildings discharging toilet waste into storm water drains, the release warned.
