Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Visited TNAU

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee (right) being received by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor C. Ramasamy on his visit to the university in Coimbatore on Monday. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, visited the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here on Monday and had an interaction with the Vice-Chancellor of the university, C. Ramasamy.
The Chief Minister also evinced keen interest in the modern farm technologies – Precision Farming and the System of Rice Intensification technique of TNAU

The latter briefed him about the university’s activities and its thrust areas in research and development. According to a university release, the main topics of discussion were Genetically Modified crops and their status in the country and the impact created by Bt cotton and the benefits gained by the farmers. The Chief Minister also evinced keen interest in the modern farm technologies – Precision Farming and the System of Rice Intensification technique of TNAU. The Vice-Chancellor explained to him the role of TNAU in popularizing these sets of hi-tech package of practices among farmers of Tamil Nadu and how they benefited through adopting them. Mr. Bhattacharjee was also briefed on the various educational programmes offered by the university.
