Government Exhibition 2008 On April 12

The Government Exhibition 2008 will begin at the Jail Grounds in Gandhipuram on April 12.A meeting to review the arrangements and preparedness of the various departments was conducted by the District Collector, V. Palanikumar, and was attended by Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Department, G. Manikumar, Assistant Collector (Training), J. Chandrakumar, Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency, Murugan, District Revenue Officer, S. Prabhakaran and Dean of Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, Hemalatha.

Mr. Palanikumar said that exhibitions provided an excellent avenue for recreation and entertainment and it is for the departments to explain the schemes and achievements of the Government through their innovative stalls and display materials. Considering that lakhs of people visit the exhibition every year, Mr. Palanikumar said that officials should make it a point to make use of the opportunity and turn these exhibitions into mediums for reaching the Government’s achievements to the people.

This year, there would be stalls by various departments including Information and Public Relations, Tourism, Rural Development, Small Industries, Public Health and Family Welfare, Co-operation, Social Welfare, Small Savings, Forests, Police, Fisheries, and Prisons besides Coimbatore Corporation, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, THADCO, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Aavin. In addition, over 38 private stalls also would form part of the expo. It would be inaugurated by Minister for Information and Public Relations Parithi Elamvazhuthi and Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy.
