Statutory Clearances In 30 Days
Entrepreneurs who propose green field or expansion of micro, small or medium-scale projects in the district can submit the application at the District Industries’ Centre (DIC) here to get the statutory clearances for building construction and machinery installation in 30 days. These departments should give their licence in 30 days or provide a valid reason for the delay. S. Ashokan, General Manager of the centre, said the proposed units required a number of statutory clearances from various departments such as the pollution control board, town and country planning, health, fire and inspector of factories. The centre would receive the applications and forward them to all the departments simultaneously for clearance in 30 days. This would be reviewed by the District Collector, who headed the single window clearance committee, every month.
The application should be for both – building construction and machinery installation. Copies of the applications forwarded to various departments would also be sent to the entrepreneur to help him know the status. The committee received applications from 52 industries this year. Mr. Ashokan said some times the companies had to wait for months to get the approvals which led to escalation in project cost. The service rendered by the centre was free-of-cost and saved time for the micro and small units.
