Topper Students Rewarded

Students who had scored centum in SSLC and HSLC examinations from nine Corporation schools were awarded cash prizes and wrist watches by the alumni association of Siddhapudur Corporation Higher Secondary School. The association also recognised the service of teachers who had produced cent per cent pass in their subjects.
The association has been actively involved in developing the school’s infrastructure and quality of education and is now on the threshold of extending its services to other Corporation schools too. Three schools that bagged the first three places in the SSLC and HSLC examinations were given shields and electronic digital watches. According to a release from R. Sundararaj, Treasurer, the recognition would encourage the students to perform better and others too to achieve their goals. The association would conduct motivation and career guidance classes for nine Corporation schools.
It also planned to take the students on industrial and institutional visits, Mr. Sundararaj said. About 20 students from Classes VI to XII of Siddhapudur Corporation School who had scored first rank in annual examinations were given cash prizes, textbooks, notebooks, medals and certificates. Another set of 20 students were rewarded for excelling in sports, co-curricular activities and social service. All the 1,300 students of the school were given identity cards. Special efforts were being taken to improve their English speaking skills. Computer and sports coaching also formed a part of the association’s programme for the school, , Mr.Sundararaj said. Among the facilities provided are an electric bell, computer software, safe vaults for teachers and several other accessories. It had also painted the furniture at school.
The association has also donated computer furniture and accessories for networking computers to the Corporation Girls High Schools at Peelamedu and R.S. Puram. The Corporation Elementary Schools at Maniankaranpalayam and Ganapathy were provided with 50 mats. It had provided fans and electric lights to the Balwadi at Sidhapudur. Varadarajapuram Corporation Girls High School received utensils for its noon meal centres, including plates. In addition, students of Anupparpalayam Corporation High School were given geometry boxes. The association gave furniture and books to the school for the hearing impaired at R.S. Puram.
