Coaching classes :

Coaching classes for those preparing to write the Civil Services examinations will be organised by the Anna IAS Academy in Coimbatore.According to a release from the academy, part-time classes will be held at R.K. Debit Waiver :

Bank of India has started issuance of the debt waiver and relief certificate to farmers benefiting under the Agricultural Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme – 2008. A release from the bank said it had started issuing the certificates in Coimbatore Zone, covering 62 branches in 19 districts. Functions were held recently in Chinnakattalai (Madurai District) and Periyakottai (Sivaganga District). Relief letters were given to 1,391 farmers.

National seminar :

The Department of Zoology of Bharathiar University will host a national seminar on “Recent Trends in Aquaculture Practices – Towards Technological Empowerment of Aquaculture Farmers” on August 7 and 8 on the university premises.Those interested can contact V. Loan campaign :

Indian Bank will organise an educational loan campaign on July 20 at its P.N. Palayam branch located on Avanashi Road. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spot sanction will be done to eligible students. International conference :

The Departm-ent of Textile Technology of the PSG College of Tech-nology will conduct an international conference on ‘Performance Wear and Functional Textiles’ in collaboration with Tecn-iTex Non-wovens Private Limited, Bangalore, and The Institute of Environm-ental and Human Health, Texas Tech University, the U.S. on July 24 and 25.

Technical presentation:

SIEMA and COINDIA will jointly organise a technical presentation on “Increasing Efficiency in Motors – The Need of the Day” by S. Murugesan, General Manager, Perfect Engineers, at SIEMA Buildings, Race Course, on July 21 at 6.15 p.m.

Outlet Opened:

Hasbro Clothing has launched its exclusive outlet (Probase) here. A release said the outlet was located on Oppanakara Street and would showcase shirts, trousers, T-shirts and accessories. Formals, casuals and smart casuals were also available.

New Office-bearers:

The following persons have been elected as the office-bearers of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Heritage for 2008-09 : R. Raju as president, S. Dhanaraj as vice-president and T.K. Arun Kumar as secretary.
