Next time if you happen to spot a yellow circle on the road while driving in the City, it is to remind you to adhere to road rules and drive safely.Talking to ‘reporter,’ City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali said that every yellow circle was to alert the motorists and caution them that a fatal accident had taken place at the spot. The police expect that this will help in making the motorists understand the need to respect their and others’ safety. These yellow circles would also help the law enforcing agency to identify the causes of such accidents and initiate measures to control them.
A total of 221 deaths had taken place on the roads due to accidents. These spots have been identified as black spots in road safety and an accident mapping had been done by a team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic), K. Thondiraj and Assistant Commissioner of Police, K. Rajendran. To begin with, the police officials have begun painting accident spots with yellow circles on Kalapatti Road and Nanjundapuram Road. Other roads in the city will also be taken up in a phased manner. The works would be completed within a fortnight, Mr. Mahali said.
