AUT's Protest
The Association of University Teachers, Tamil Nadu (AUT), under the aegis of the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (AIFUCTO), will stage a State-wide protest on September 24 to press for the release of the UGC Pay Review report. According to a release from AUT Chairman C. Rengaswamy, the Chadda Committee was supposed to have submitted its recommendations to the Central Government on the pay review by September 6. The release lamented that the delay caused serious concern in the light of the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations for the Central Government employees. Teachers of universities and colleges would stage demonstrations in their respective institutions pressing for early submission of the report.
