CODISSIA And ITPO Signd MoU
Executive Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation, Rajiv Yadav (second right), and president of CODISSIA, K.Ilango (second left), exchange an MoU in Coimbatore on Monday. The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) entered into an agreement with the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) here on Monday to organise more trade fairs here. Rajiv Yadav, Executive Director of the ITPO, told presspersons that this was part of its efforts to reach out to regions with economic and industrial growth, apart from the metros. “In Coimbatore, the growth is happening fast.” “CODISSIA has a good infrastructure facility at the trade fair complex here and hence, large-sized exhibitions can be organised.” The regional office of the organisation in Chennai would act as the nodal agency.
“We would like the inherent potential of the region to be displayed.” The two organisations would soon work out the sectors in which the exhibitions would be held. Some of the potential sectors were energy and environment, healthcare and handicrafts and tourism. CODISSIA president K. Illango said ITPO had a brand image and marketing network. These would help the association spread message about the events held here to a larger audience. “We are trying to use the reach that ITPO has,” he said. During the three-years (2008 to 2010), at least six exhibitions would be held here. The first one was likely to be on the healthcare sector. Revenue sharing would be in the ratio of 55:45 (CODISSIA and ITPO).
Mr. Yadav said that globally, most of the business-to-business events were held for two or three days. So, the event planned by the two associations would also be of that duration. This was the first agreement that the ITPO was having with an industrial association. Most of its joint efforts were with the State Governments to organise exhibitions. In Coimbatore, the events would initially have national participants and international visitors. The regional and international offices of the organisation would be involved in the marketing and publicity activities. Mr. Illango said CODISSIA planned to have at least seven exhibitions at its trade fair grounds here next year.
