Mindlogicx Setting Data Centres
Mindlogicx Infotech Limited, a Bangalore-based information technology company, is in the process of setting up data centres at a cost of Rs. 10 crore in 91 colleges, affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore. N. Somasundaram, Senior vice-president (product engineering) of Mindlogicx, told that this was part of the examination management system that the company was implementing for the university after signing an agreement recently with it. Each centre would be located on about 1,000 sq.ft area on the college premises. These would be connected to a Networking Operating Centre to be established at the university. Each data centre would have a local server, high speed printers and copiers. Mindlogicx would establish and run these centres, employing about 150 operators, for five years. It would then hand over the facilities to the university. Through this, it would initially facilitate digitised evaluation of answer sheets, entry of fee details, attendance and internal and practical marks, and automated question paper printing.
“By first week of October we hope to test the connectivity in these centres.” Entry into these centres would be through biometric access system. Surveillance cameras would also be installed, thus ensuring security to the data handled. The entire system would benefit the students too as it would send emails to them regularly on examination and fees details. The company was in talks with at least a couple of other universities for installing a similar system, he added.
