Vocational Teachers Association
The Vocational Teachers Association has appealed to the Government to fix Rs.6,500 as the basic pay for vocational teachers across the State. The general secretary of the Association, S.N. Janardhanan, said there was a need to ensure equal wages to those with equal work and qualification. Hence, a basic pay of Rs. 6,500 for vocational teachers would remove the anomaly. The Government had introduced various reforms in school education. It had issued orders declaring that commerce teachers would be included in the vocational stream of education in the feeder category. This would enable the teachers to get transfer as post-graduate commerce teachers in higher secondary schools, Mr. Janardhanan said. These resolutions were passed at a State general body meeting of the association held in the city recently. Thirty office-bearers from the branches of the association across the State took part in the meeting.
