Christian Community Observed Fast

Over 1,000 people, including 375 women, majority of them belonging to the Christian community, on Sunday observed a one-day fast in the city protesting the attacks on churches in several states. The agitators, under the banner of Christian Associations and National Minority Peoples Peravai, led by S Arulraj, a pastor, held the fast near the Central Bus stand here, police said. The fast, scheduled to end at 5 pm, came to an early close around 3 pm following heavy rains, police said.
