Freak Incident
In a freak incident, an eight year old girl student was killed, when the 'rajagopuram' (entrance) of a temple collapsed and fell on her, when a bus hit it while being reversed at Chinnathadagam, on the outskirts, on Saturday.A few students had gathered near the Panchayat office, as part Grama Panchayat Day sports and were waiting under the Rajagopuram of the famous Mariamman Temple in22-Nanjundapuram, about 20 KMs from here, police said. A bus, after stopping to let down some research students, hit the Rajagopuram which collapsed under the impact and fell on the students. While some students escaped unhurt, two students--aged seven and eight--caught under it, seriously injured. The 8-year old Vaishnavi was declared brought dead in the Government Hospital here, while other girl students was being treated, police added.
