Patron Of Music Dead
C.R. Gopinathan (65), well-known connoisseur and patron of music and a scion of one of the most prominent families in the city, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence at GV Residency on Friday morning. He was a former General Manager of a major textile unit and was teaching music as well. He used to regularly attend all music functions held at the Music Academy in Chennai. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. On Thursday night, Mr. Gopinath is said to have stayed alone. The servant maid who knocked at the door on Friday morning found no response and informed the neighbours who in turn alerted the police. The body was found lying in a pool of blood with stab injuries in the chest and stomach besides a cut injury on the neck, the police said. Forensic and finger print experts were pressed into service.
