UG Counselling At Tamil Nadu Agricultural University

K. Vanangamudi, Dean (Agriculture), handing over the first admission card to R. Vishnu Varadhan on the first day of the UG counselling at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, on Monday. Counselling for admission to undergraduate courses under the single window system began at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Monday. It will go on till Saturday. “Nearly 3,600 candidates had applied to the university to pursue an undergraduate degree in any of the twelve disciplines.
The university shortlisted candidates based on the cut off mark based on the aggregate of marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Plus Two examinations,” K. Vanangamudi, Dean (Agriculture), said. Those with cut off marks from 198.25 to 180.50 (out of 200) were called for the counselling on the first day.

As many as 150 candidates attended the first session. Out of the 150, 76 got admitted into the course of their choice. The topper R. Vishnu Varadhan (194.25) from Dharapuram got admission in the B. Tech. Biotechnology course. The second topper R. Boominathan (193.75) from Madurai selected the B.Sc. Agriculture course. The most favoured courses seemed to be the B. Tech. courses in Biotechnology (20 seats), Food Process Engineering (13 seats), Energy and Environmental Engineering (12 seats), besides the conventional B.Sc. Agriculture which had 22 takers.

First phase of counselling for general category will continue till June 28; while the second phase will be held on July 7. Counselling for special reservations like ex-servicemen, candidates with disability, sports quota, etc., will be held on the forenoon of June 30. Counselling for vocational stream will be held on the afternoon of June 30. Registration for the new academic year and classes will begin on July 23.
