Monsoon Rally Found Its Way To Coimbatore

After wading through a period of struggle, the IMG Mill and Monsoon Rally has at last found its way to Coimbatore. Considered one of the best in the circuit, the fourth leg of the Indian National Rally Championship, sponsored by India Mines Group (Bangalore) will be run at the specially designed stages in Kethanur on October 18 and 19.

Organised by the Motor Sports Club of Coimbatore (MSCC) and supported by the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club and a host of others, the two-day event promises to be as exciting as the one held here in April 2002. “We are happy to bring the rally back to where it belongs. We want to do a good job so that it may be a benchmark for the other events around the country,” says N. Leelakrishnan, veteran driver and seven-time National rally champion.

“It’s going to be doubly difficult because of the five-year break. But we are not going to cry over it. We have people with experience and enthusiasm to complete the task,” he adds. The MSCC head assures to make it an annual affairThe drivers will run through two special stages in the forward direction on October 18 and then do the reverse direction the next day. The total distance covered will be 354.32km (special Stages 115.94 & transport 238.38).
