A Mahila court here today sentenced a man and his mother to undergo imprisonment for 10 years for harrassing the man&aposs wife for dowry, leading to her committing suicide by hanging some two years ago. The prosecution case was that Abdul Javed, resident of NGGO colony in Thudiyalur on the city outskirts, was harrassing his wife Sabana Banu for bringing more dowry. His mother was also supporting him in the act. Unable to bear the torture and harrassent, Sabana had commmitted suicide by hanging in their house on Jan 19, 2006 and the case was going on in the Mahila court here. The Judge, Dakshinamurthy sentenced both to undergo 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
