Food Adulteration Department Raid

Officials of Prevention of Food Adulteration Department Monday carried out raids on dealers and retail outlets selling baby food and seized some Non-ISI marked food articles. The raids were carried out in godowns and shops in Gandhipuram, Crosscut Road, Saibaba colony, Big Bazaar Street, Raja Street and Oppanakara Street in the city, official sources said.

The officials seized tinned Non-ISI mark baby food from some main dealers, which would be sent for tests in Salem and action, if any, under Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, would be taken based on the test report, they said. They also raided two leading sweet shops and seized a few non-permissible colouring agents and silver foil from there, they said.
