TNAU Organised Field Training On Sericulture Technologies
The Tamil Nadu Agriculture University organised a State-level capacity building field training on ‘sericulture technologies for higher cocoon production’ for farmers at Udumalpet near here recently. The programme, funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, was attended by farmers from Tiruchi, Sivaganga, Namakkal, Pudukottai, Tanjavur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Coimbatore and Virudhunagar districts. C.A. Mahalingam, professor (sericulture), TNAU, urged the farmers to take up bivoltine sericulture more considering the growing global demand for apparels made of finer silk. V.Suresh, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, also interacted with the farmers.
