Kerala Carnival-2009

With the objective of luring more domestic tourists to the State, the tourism industry will organise Kerala Carnival-2009 in tier-II cities of the country. In the first phase of the carnival, road shows will be held in Coimbatore on January 12 and Tirupur on January 13. Between the months of February and April, the carnival will be organised in Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Mysore, Mangalore, Pune, Nagpur, Indore, Bhopal, Surat, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bhubhaneswar and Cuttack.

The carnival has been planned to revive the tourism sector that had been severely affected following the global recession and the Mumbai terror attacks, the organisers said in a release here on Saturday. The carnival is being organised by the KTDC Hotels and Resorts, Tourism India, Kerala Travel Mart Society, leading hotels, resorts and tour operators. A highlight of the carnival is the participation of stakeholders from Wayanad.
