Adhi Thamizhar Peravai Picketing SP Office

Activists of the Adhi Thamizhar Peravai picketing the office of the Superintendent of Police in the city on Monday. Accusing the local police of failing to initiate action against caste Hindus, members of the listed communities on Monday thronged the office of the Superintendent of Police on Railway Station Road. It was learnt that animosity was brewing between two groups i.e., caste Hindus and members of the listed community.


On Sunday, trouble erupted over Swaminathan of Kande Gounden Chavadi at Thondamuthur taking sand from a nearby place which resulted in clash between the groups. In the clash, Swaminathan claimed that he was pelted with stones. Two persons Bhagavathi and Kumar of the opposite group also sustained injuries. The members of the oppressed communities maintained that the police were not initiating any action against Caste Hindus. The members of the listed community insisted that they should be allowed to present a petition to the SP. The police officials asked a group of representatives to meet the SP. This was resisted by the group. Finally, the police officers convinced the groupSuperintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, N. Kannan, promised that action would be taken. Following the assurance, the group dispersed.
