DGP inspects ongoing projects

The Director-General of Police and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Jagan M. Seshadri on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction works of the Corporation in Coimbatore.

Mr. Seshadri inspected the construction works of Big Bazaar Police Station, Selvapuram Police Station, West Zone Inspector-General of Police office at Race Course, Police Recruit School barracks and the prison staff quarters on Bharathiar Road. He was accompanied by Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, K.C. Mahali; Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, Pramod Kumar; and other officials.He directed the officials of the Police Housing Corporation to create provisions for vehicle parking at Big Bazaar Police Station building and rain water harvesting provisions in all ongoing constructions.

Big Bazaar Police station, 5,500 sq. ft. in area, is coming up at a cost of Rs. 49 lakh. He also asked the officials to construct a compound wall at Selvapuram Police Station utilising the surplus funds from the Ukkadam Police Station construction project. The police station with an area of 3,500 sq. ft. was constructed at a cost of Rs. 26.5 lakh.Mr. Seshadri also inspected the police recruit school barracks works coming up at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh.

Inspecting the Rs. 50 lakh prison staff quarters works, Mr. Seshadri asked the officials to serve notice and initiate legal action on the contractor who had abandoned the work resulting in contractual failure. He also asked the officials to appoint another contractor for completing the project which includes 13 houses, some of them 550 sq. ft.in area and others 724 sq. ft. in area.Mr. Seshadri also inspected the 3,400 sq. ft. IG office construction works going on at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh.
