Special counters for IT returns !!

The Income Tax Department is setting up special counters from July 27 to July 31 to receive the IT returns.The last date for filing of IT returns for the salaried and other non-corporate assessees (without the liability of Tax audit) is July 31.According to a release from Arvind Pinto, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore, the department is making elaborate arrangements for receiving the returns of income not only in Coimbatore but also at all the income tax offices including Erode, Tirupur, Udhagamandalam and Pollachi.

In addition, help desks will be set up on the IT office premises to assist the tax payers in filling up and filing of returns. Both the special counters and the help desks will function on all the five days in all the IT offices in Coimbatore region.Besides, officers will be present to offer any clarification that may be sought by the assessees and also in filling up of the new return forms.These forms will be available in the special counters. Besides, the forms can be downloaded from the department’s official website www.incometaxindia.gov.in.

Tax payers are not required to file any annexures with their returns.But they are required to quote correct address, PAN, Bank A\C number, MICR Code, etc in their returns to facilitate speedy processing. IT returns will not be accepted without these mandatory details.They are also advised to bring their PAN cards or PAN allotment letters to facilitate easy filling up of their returns.
