Endoscopy equipment at CMCH-Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: A video endoscopy equipment costing Rs. 12 lakh has been installed at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital under the State Government's initiatives to modernise its hospitals.
"The earlier versions given to the Government hospitals enabled only the doctor to view the upper gastro-intestinal system. The new equipment helps even others view the images on a monitor. Even copies can be made on a compact disc and given to the patients," Dean of the hospital T.P. Kalaniti said on Thursday after commissioning the equipment.

Training to students :
Installed at the Department of General Surgery, the equipment would also be used to train the post-graduate students of general surgery at the Coimbatore Medical College, the Dean said. "On that count, the equipment's usage here will be different from other medical college hospitals. By the time our students pass out, they will be fully trained in endoscopy."
Another equipment would be procured for the Department of General Medicine in a month. It would also help in training the students in that branch, apart from treatment of patients.
