Bharti AXA life insurance soon at Coimbatore

Bharti AXA Life Insurance is targeting 77 branches in one year including in smaller cities and towns with the objective of becoming one of the top five players among private insurance companies by 2012. After opening its first branch in Kerala here, company CEO Nitin Chopra told ET that it would be opening branches in seven more towns in the state. “We plan to extend our presence to Kozhikode, Kottayam, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kannur and Pathanamthitta districts,” he said. It will also focus on other South Indian cities such as Mysore, Mangalore, Vizag, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Trichy and Salem, he said. Mr Chopra said that in addition to branches, the company is leveraging its presence in Airtel Relationship Centres (ARCs). Bharti expects to provide services through 250 ARCs by December 2007. According to Mr Chopra, the ARC initiative is a part of its innovative distribution channel. “Through ‘telcassurance,’ Bharti AXA aims to reach out to over 46 million national telecom customer base of Airtel,” he said.The ARC initiative includes dedicated financial advisors supported with relevant branding. The target is 5000 life advisors. Bharti AXA is planning to bring out a pension product shortly, Mr Chopra said.
