Cash Rewards For Police
City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali has ordered for presenting cash rewards to police personnel and Good Service Entry for officers for having ensured a peaceful Chaturthi celebration and idol immersion processions. Mr. Mahali said that 227 idols were immersed in Singanallur tank, Muthannan Kulam and Kurichi tank in a phased manner. The police had provided security for as many as 14 processions. The supervision of the bandobust arrangements were entrusted to the Deputy Commissioners of Police S. Rajendran (Law and Order), K. Thondiraj (Crime and Traffic) and P. Nagarajan.
More than 1,500 police personnel were involved in the security arrangements. Mr. Mahali said that the peaceful conduct of the Chaturthi celebrations was mainly due to the co-ordination with the organisers. At all the immersion points, the police had deployed swimmers from the Armed Reserve and Fire and Rescue Services. Crowd control measures had also been taken, he added.
