Vasudev (19), a student of CMS College, died after he fell with his motorcycle into a trench dug up in Gandhi Maanagar in Ganapathy area on Thursday night. Vasudev son of Narayanan Namboodri of Guruvayoor in Kerala along with his college mate Krishna Kishore Varma (18) son of Balaram of Palakkad were travelling on their motorcycle when the bike plunged into a gorge dug up for Underground Drainage. His friend managed to escape with injuries. Residents in the area are irked over the lethargy of the officials and the contractor executing the work for failure to take preventive measures including fencing of the trench and installation of sign boards.
