EASA College Inaugurated

By the time you graduate, the demand for engineers in all branches will be more than the country can produce, G. Krishnamoorthy, Director, San Diego State University, San Diego, California, said here recently. Speaking at the inauguration of the EASA College of Engineering and Technology at Navakkarai, he congratulated the management for locating the college in a rural area to benefit aspiring engineers. “Engineers are the guardians and builders of the nation. The college is an ideal example of former President Abdul Kalam’s programme to Provide Urban Amenities to Rural Areas (PURA).”

“The demand for engineers will be in building infrastructure and solving societal, energy and environmental issues. Engineering students need to develop critical thinking capacity to be successful in their careers,” Mr. Krishnamoorthy said. Speaking on the critical areas where engineers were needed, he said that the foremost challenge in front of an engineer was coping with climate change in the face of global warming, and the next was creating infrastructure for the rapidly growing population.T.D. Easwaramoorthy, Chairman of the college and Managing Trustee of EASA Foundations, M. Muthusamy, Director, and Vishnu Ram, Principal, spoke.
