PMK Leaders At Coimbatore

PMK today said that electricity minister Arcot N Veerasamy should either resign from the ministery or the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi should sack him from the portfolio for his 'total failure to handle the ministry, resulting in acute powe shortage in Tamil Nadu.' 'Owning responsibility for the failure to handle the power situation, either Veerasamy should resign or Karunanidhi should sack him from the post,' PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss demanded at a press conference here.

Stating that the ministry has failed to generate power from the total thermal capacity of 2970 MW and only succeeded in generating 1932 MW of power till February 2007-08, Ramadoss said that if the capacity was utilised fully, there would not be an shortage of power. If Veerasamy was allowed to continue, Tamil Nadu would plunge into total darkness, he said. On the one rupee rice for one kg and PDS essential bag for Rs 50, Ramadoss said these schemes would go into thin air after Lok Sabha elections. Instead of providing colour TVs, the Government should take steps to provide one job for one family, since about 50 lakh unemployed youth were waiting for employment, he said.
