Speedy Passport
B. Balamurugan, Passport Officer, Coimbatore (right) handing over the passport on Tuesday to M. Indhumathi, a taekwondo champion who is leaving for Canada. The Passport Office, Coimbatore came to the rescue of two persons on Tuesday by providing them passports within hours of applying. Passport Officer B. Balamurugan said that a woman employed in a nationalised bank in Peelamedu G. Vaidhegi approached the passport office on Tuesday morning seeking speedy issuance of passport. She wanted it at the earliest since her brother Ganesh Rajagopalan’s family had been involved in an accident.
She said all the members of the family were still in hospital in a critical condition. She produced proof of emergency too. The passport office processed the application and gave her the passport by afternoon enabling her to make her travel plans immediately. Similarly, M. Indhumathi, a Standard X student of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Sowripalayam and a proud winner of various gold and silver medals in various taekwondo events at various levels approached the Passport Office seeking a passport to participate in an event in Canada.
Mr. Balamurugan said that her application was processed in a record time of 52 minutes she got the passport the same day. She is leaving for Bhopal and from there to Canada, officials said. Applicants with proof of emergency and having all documents intact could approach the passport office for speedy processing of their application, Mr. Balamurugan said.
