Residents of Velandavalam on the Tamil Nadu – Kerala border on Wednesday blocked seven trucks reportedly “transporting sand” to Kerala. S.P. Velumani, MLA, immediately rushed to the spot. He said that despite repeated representations during various meetings sand smuggling was continuing. He demanded that the Collector should visit the spot for initiating measures to stop smuggling. District Collector V. Palanikumar deputed Coimbatore South Tahsildar, P. Subramanian hold talks with residents.
