Collector Announcement
District Collector, V. Palanikumar, has announced that family card holders who have not gone through verification of their cards should approach the Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets and give a letter in writing. In a release, Mr. Palanikumar said that door to door verification of PDS family cards began on July 1 and August 20. As per the verification, steps were being taken to cancel the cards where information provided could not be corroborated.
A list of card numbers found not genuine and orders issued for stop supply have been displayed at the PDS outlet. In the event of such holders genuinely living at the address provided by them and if their cards had not been subjected to verification, they could approach the PDS outlets with a letter and some address proof such property tax receipt, photo voter identification card and could buy commodities for October. The letter and proof should be handed over to the PDS outlet before October 31. These cards would be provided with the essential commodities supply only this month and for those failing to do the same would have to do without supply for November 2008.
