Road From 100 Ft To Avanshi Road

The Coimbatore Corporation Council meeting on Friday passed a resolution to lay a scheme road from 100 Feet Road to Avanashi Road via Pappanaickenpalayam electric crematorium and Avarampalayam. To decongest the city, especially arterial road junctions, the civic body, local planning authority had been drawing up proposals to create more link and scheme roads as a short-term measure besides proposing ring roads and bypass roads.

The administration was contemplating on a road to link Avanashi Road with Tiruchi Road by laying a link road from Avanashi Road near Tirupur textiles. Another proposal was to link Avanashi Road with 100 Feet Road so that Lakshmi Mills Junction, Bharathiar Road, Pappanaickenpalayam and Gandhipuram could be decongested to a considerable extent. The original proposal was to lay a scheme road linking Avanashi Road with 100 Feet Road via Pappanaickenpalayam electric crematorium and SNR Sons College. The proposal was to have the road width measuring 100 ft, 75 ft and 60 ft and narrow stretches.

Considering the thickly populated places, the committee had resolved to establish the scheme road via SNR Sons College. For a road with a width of 60 ft, the council resolved to seek lands from the land owners in the area as “gift” and go ahead with the scheme road proposal. Once it comes through, vehicles on Avanashi Road bound for Sathyamangalam Road and Mettupalayam Road could skip going via Lakshmi Mills Junction and core city areas.
