Clash Between 2 DMK Groups

Tension prevailed at Pethappampatti, near Udumalpet, following a clash between two warring groups of DMK activists on Sunday. It is said there was some difference of opinion between Rajamanickam, who was elected as party union secretary recently, and Murugesan, a party cadre, for the past several months. The quarrel has now escalated, leading to frequent clashes between the two groups.

On Sunday, Murugesans son Gowtham along with his supporters assaulted DMK Anikkadavu panchayat councillor Selvakumar, a staunch supporter of Rajamanickam, while the latter was driving his car. Selvakumar, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to the GH. Meanwhile, Pethappampatti panchayat chairperson Vasanthamani Subramani along with 500 villagers staged a road roko at Four Road Junction demanding that police put an end to violence at Pethappampatti. Gowtham and three of his supporters were arrested.
