1,000 Telegrams To CM

The Trade and Commerce Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party sent 1,000 telegrams from here on Friday to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. It was to demand that the power situation be improved, especially in industrial areas such as Coimbatore. The telegrams contained the following demand: “Eliminate power cut, enable us to live”. State Observer of the cell and National Council member of the party S.R. Seghar led the telegram campaign in the city.

In a statement issued here, he criticised the State Government for providing uninterrupted supply of power to multinational companies and putting the rest of the State to hardship through long hours of load-shedding. Mr. Seghar accused the Chief Minister of trying to divert the people’s attention from the power scenario by asking them to send telegrams to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to demand steps to end attacks on Tamils in Sri Lanka.
