free training programme in pig farming
The Veterinary University Training and Research Centre here will offer a free training programme in pig farming on February 24 and 25. According to a release, the programme at the centre will benefit farmers and entrepreneurs involved in livestock farming. There is a large domestic and export demand for quality pork. Pigs can be reared economically utilising vegetable waste, kitchen and hotel food waste. The training will comprise lectures on selection of breeding stock, housing, breeding, feeding and disease management of pigs. It will also emphasise on processing and establishment of retail pork outlets and on marketing potential available.
