The Directorate of Field Publicity and the PSG Rural Health Centre organised essay writing and elocution contests on ‘Family Planning – It’s a Right, Let’s Make it Real”. This was held to mark the World Population Day on July 11. The organisers said while 200 students took part in a function to mark the observance of World Population Day, 30 others took part in the contests.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will organise a seminar on the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award on July 24. A release said the award was instituted in 1991 to encourage Indian manufacturing and service organisations strive for excellence. It recognised units that made significant improvement in quality of products and services. Guidelines and criteria were given to the industries to evaluate their quality improvement efforts. Govt's Support:
Individuals from the Adi Dravidar / Tribal communities, running non-governmental organisations for educational purposes, will get assistance from the Ministry of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare.According to an official release, this is to encourage such organisations that do voluntary work in the field of education.Those wishing to set up new organisations will also receive a portion of the initial investment they have to make from the Government. The release added that five per cent of the total contribution to be made by the individual, or Rs. 10 lakh, whichever is less, would be offered by the Government. Also, such organisations that come forward to offer pharmacy, nursing and B. Ed. courses would be given preference.
