Students Innovative Speed breaker !
Students of Taml Nadu collage of Engineering in Karumathampatti in coimbatore come out with an 'innovative' project, which they claim can be an alternative to speed breakers.
Five final year students in their project titled 'speed limiter and control for automobiles,' claimed that the speed of the vehicles at the junctions like schools, hospitals and parks can be reduced to a particular speed.Besides, accidents arising due to over speeding vehicles can also be prevented, the students told reporters here today.
On how it operates, V Varun and G Aravind, said a magnetic transmitter was placed on the road where the vehicles has to slow down.'' A magnetic transducer senses the magnetic field and gives the signal to the microcontroller, which generates control action to vary the fuel supply. This makes the vehicle slow down at places where the magnetic sensors are placed,' the students said.
On advantages, they said speed breakers can be removed and the proposed project implemented for road safety.Another major advantage was that fatal accidents due to vehicles overspeeding in thickly populated and restricted areas, like hospitals and schools, can be prevented, the students said
