COINDIA Bhoomi Puja
Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association (COINDIA) has started works for a Rs. 15 crore modern tool room here for the general engineering industries. The bhoomi puja was held on Monday. The association president G. Rajendran has said in a release that the project is a joint initiative of the Central Government, State Government and the association. The State Government has given 50 cents and Rs. 1.21 crore for the project.
The industries’ contribution is Rs. 4 crore and the Centre has extended Rs. 10 crore assistance.Machinery would be imported and the association would employ a team of experts and equip the Centre with a design studio. The association has already established a tool room at Avarampalayam for pump, motor and foundry units. “The tool room for general engineering industries will be capable of manufacturing world-class high precision tools and dies, for plastic injection moulding, pressure die casting components, sheet metal components, rubber dies and jigs and fixtures. The tool room would have 23,000 sq.ft of industrial space and be able to accommodate heavy machines on the first floor too. The works would be completed in six months, Mr. Rajendran said.
