Investment from the university to implement the system will be Rs. 30 lakh

As a pilot project, online teaching via Internet would be introduced in 10 centres. “To begin with, one centre each in Coimbatore, Pollachi and Erode has been identified. The investment from the university to implement the system will be Rs. 30 lakh (for 134 centres), while the contribution by each centre will be Rs. 1.5 lakh.”

A common time table would be drawn up for the courses and distributed to all the centres. A single faculty member from the university would address the students in the various centres through the teleconferencing equipment. The class would adopt a normal classroom teaching method. “The professor would teach a chapter using the teaching aids after which students from the centres can ask questions and clarify doubts,” said the Vice-Chancellor.He said that the same method would be extended to the regular classes engaged in colleges that would fall in the cluster college concept.
