Arasu Cable TV Corporation M.D Transferred

Two days after making a statement that he had recommended that Sumangali Cable Vision owned by Maran brothers could be taken over by the government, C Uma Shankar, Chairman and Managing Director of Arasu Cable TV Corporation (ACTC), has been transferred as the Commissioner of Small Savings.

Addressing a press conference at Vellore on January 21, Uma Shankar had said that a police complaint had been lodged against the SCV that it had damaged the cables of the ACTC in Coimbatore. He also said that he had recommended to the government to take over the SCV. Two days later, Uma Shankar has been transferred to the Small Savings Department. He took over as the MD of the ACTC just three months ago, on October 30. When doubts were raised about the continuance of the ACTC after the reunion of Maran brothers with the family of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi recently, Uma Shankar asserted that it would continue to function.
